Job Description
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies and procedures for the hydropower project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in health and safety management within large-scale construction or engineering projects, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety management system tailored to the hydropower project.
- Conduct risk assessments and regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Lead health and safety training programs for project staff and subcontractors to promote a safety-first culture.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Expertise:
- Hands on experience of manufacturing processes.
- Solid computer skills with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must have advanced analytical, problem solving, decision making, and communication skills and possess ability to work at a higher level of detail while ensuring proper controls are in place.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with other departments and managers and work as a team.
- A desire to set high standards of work performance for yourself and others.
- Extreme attention to detail, superior organizational skills.
- Able to multitask and work unsupervised for extended periods of time.
