MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Environmental and Social Specialist will ensure that the project's development and operation align with environmental regulations and social responsibility standards. This role involves assessing potential environmental impacts, implementing mitigation measures, and engaging with local communities to address their concerns and promote sustainable practices
KEY MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Prepare a comprehensive action plan, including environmental and social monitoring checklists, ensuring the Environmental Management System aligns with environmental and social risk management instruments.
• Monitor environmental and social risks and impacts throughout the construction works to mitigate potential issues.
• Conduct training and briefings on environmental and social risk management policies for contractors and workers, ensuring awareness of compliance requirements and best practices.
• Ensure baseline monitoring and report on contractor compliance with contractual environmental and social risk mitigation measures during the supervision stage.
• Collaborate with the Team Leader on all social development aspects of the project, as defined in the environmental and social risk management instruments.
• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including local communities, to address any environmental and social concerns that arise during the project lifecycle.
