Location: Egypt, 100% remote work-from-home position (You must permanently live and have the right to work in Egypt to apply for this position)

Contract: 6-month contract initially, with an extension highly likely. Self-employed contractor. Responsible for own taxes. No benefits. 

Pay Rate: $4.50 USD per hour

Hours of work: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Flexible working hours around core meetings.

Here at Twinkl we are currently looking for an Arabic children’s story writer to join our Twinkl Egypt team and create exceptional stories and eBooks. You’ll be writing a variety of children's books covering a variety of topics such as: social and parenting stories, Islamic stories and Arabic guided reading stories in order to help teachers teach Arabic matching the current Egyptian curriculum. We are looking for creative, innovative, cooperative content writers/editors to join our team and collaborate with making perfect Arabic content on our website.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about children’s literature and giving back to the education community, and keen to share their expertise with others in their team. To succeed in this role you must perfect Arabic writing skills following Arabic grammar rules and have a record of Arabic children stories publications. You’ll be providing a sample of your Arabic stories to Twinkl. You will also be helping to create Arabic resources related to your eBooks. As a team we are looking to add new creative ideas and engaging resources to improve our Arabic content on the website.

In your role as a writer/editor, you will focus on quality when writing content and help ensure that the content of our resources the writers have written is accurate and well written, helping us to deliver high-quality Arabic materials to children around the world.

As part of the Twinkl Egypt team,  you will communicate with other team members and attend weekly meetings to stay updated on the progress of our work. You will be part of an agile team that communicates via email, messaging, and video meetings. To fulfil this role, you will need to provide your own technology and have reliable high-speed internet access.

The content you write will be turned into professional Twinkl products by our highly skilled design and illustration team.

How you’ll spend your day:

• Helping to ideate new children stories and resources in order to grow the Arabic product library on Twinkl website, considering age groups, different genres, popular topics and representing diversity;
• Creating Arabic resources following the Arabic product scheme, meeting, working and communicating with other team members of designers and illustrators to ensure high quality of your stories.
• Researching Arabic educational resource trends and ideas to make sure your assigned resources will be instant hits with our millions of global members.

In this role, you will learn:

• How to brainstorm new ideas for new creative children's stories.
• How to create exceptional Arabic content following the guidelines of Modern Arabic standard (Fos-ha).
• How to adapt new ideas to fit a new market.
• How a scrum team works together across different markets and countries.

You’ll work with:

• Menna Abukhadra (Egypt Country Manager and Arabic product owner) – Menna Abukhadra leads the Twinkl Egypt team and is responsible for all Arabic resources related to Arabic Grammar, Arabic Handwriting and Arabic eBooks on the Twinkl website. Menna has been working at Twinkl for five years. She started as a Middle East Content Executive, then moved her focus to the Egyptian Market until she became Twinkl Country Manager for Egypt. She has an educational career background as she is a professor at Cairo University and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge. She has been working in the educational sector in Egypt for 18 years before moving to Twinkl. She speaks 3 languages and she has written 3 publications about education in the Middle East.
