Job Purpose:
The Comms Test and Commissioning Engineer is responsible for testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting communication systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards. The role involves working with network infrastructure, Multi-Service Network, and LTE technologies, Unix/Linux systems, and light current equipment such as PIS, PAS, CCTV, CS, and MSN.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform testing and commissioning activities for communication systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and compliance with project specifications.
Configure, test, and troubleshoot IP-based networks using Cisco and Nokia technologies.
Implement and verify Huawei LTE solutions, ensuring proper integration with existing infrastructure.
Work with Unix/Linux environments to support communication system operations.
Conduct system tests and performance analysis for light current equipment, including Passenger Information Systems (PIS), Public Address Systems (PAS), CCTV, Communication Systems (CS), and Managed Service Networks (MSN).
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues during the commissioning phase.
Document test results, configurations, and issue resolutions for project records and future reference.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices during testing and commissioning activities.
Support the handover process by providing necessary documentation and training to the operations team.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Technical Skills:
Networking: CCNA/CCNP certification (or equivalent experience) with strong knowledge of routing, switching, and network security.
Nokia Networks: NRS1/NRS2 certification or equivalent experience in Nokia routing technologies.
Wireless Technologies: Experience with Huawei LTE network configuration and troubleshooting.
Operating Systems: Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments for system monitoring and management.
Light Current Equipment: Hands-on experience with PIS, PAS, CCTV, CS, and MSN.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Experience:
[one to two] years of experience in communications testing, commissioning, or related fields.
Hands-on experience in network configuration, system integration, and troubleshooting.
Experience working in railway, transportation, or critical infrastructure projects is an advantage.
