Purpose of the job:
The Cluster Communication Director is responsible for internal and external communication for Egypt, GCC (UAE and Qatar) and Saudi Arabia, in close coordination with internal & external stakeholders and central functions.
Key accountabilities:
- Developing and protecting Alstom’s image and strategy towards external and internal stakeholders
- External communication supporting business, promoting the product and service portfolio
- Internal communication supporting cluster management in engaging employees around Alstom strategy, reinforcing the sense of belonging to Alstom
Team management
- Manage and develop the communication manager
Communications strategy
- Defines countries messages and coms plan and Cascades Alstom communications guidelines and strategy
- Ensure implementation and follow up of country coms plans, messaging platforms and project action plans
- Controls communications budget, follow-up & reporting
Customer relations
- Advises and supervises the communication in the 3 countries for:
- external local events
- organisation of sites visits inside or outside its country/cluster
- the identification and management of Rank 2 exhibitions
Media relations
- Cluster Communication director advises and supervises the communication teams in the cluster for all media actions (selection of journalists for press events, preparation of press releases, local press events, media briefing, Q&A…) and for the management of crisis communications and ensures interface with the Region Communications VP
Please note, that French national and Trade press are managed by the central press department and responsible to provide content to central press department.
Brand
- Ensures that central rules are applied regarding branding issues for Alstom sites and JVs
- Advises and supervises the communication teams in the cluster for the production of local content for print and online tools (messages, figures, country/cluster and sites PPT presentations)
All employees communication
- Manages internal communication to all employees in the 3 countries (Newsletter; Webinars; Teams; Alstom TV)
- Cascades central information & Alstom communications top-down (using news and Alstom TV channels)
- Escalates project milestones and overall social climate (bottom-up)
Managerial communication
- Oversees the internal and external positioning of 3 Country Managing Directors, offering guidance on messaging and behaviour alongside a detailed action plan
Provides advice and managerial guidelines to members of the Country Management Committee
Educational Requirements:
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Journalism
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing modern communications strategies that align with business objectives
Experience in managing multiple Country Managing Directors (MDs)
Desirable:
- Understanding of various functional areas within the organization.
- Awareness of the international environment.
- Familiarity with Alstom.
Experience:
Mandatory:
- A minimum of 10 years of communications experience (including media relations, public relations, event management, and employee communications) in a corporate multinational and/or a PR/communications agency serving major blue-chip clients, along with strong operational skills
- Experience in managing multiple Country Managing Directors (MDs)
- Fluency in Arabic and English
Knowledge of the domestic environment, with the ability to understand the geopolitical context and its implications
