We are looking for a dedicated Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant with experience in the construction sector to join our growing finance team. Job Summary: As an AP Accountant, you will be responsible for processing and managing all accounts payable functions for the company. You will work closely with the finance and project management teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, vendor payments, and compliance with contractual terms. Key Responsibilities:
Process and manage vendor invoices for construction-related services, ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual terms.
Verify, allocate, and reconcile invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
Assist in maintaining accurate records of accounts payable transactions and work closely with project managers to track and update project-related expenses.
Prepare and review payment runs to vendors, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to address any payment or invoice inquiries.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
Perform account reconciliations and identify and resolve discrepancies.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reports.
Review and process subcontractor lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and other construction-specific documentation related to payments.
Assist with the preparation of reports for management on accounts payable and outstanding liabilities.
Qualifications:
At least 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role, with a preference for experience in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including lien waivers, certified payroll, and subcontractor agreements.
Familiarity with project-based accounting and job costing processes.
Proficiency in MS Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
