Job Purpose

To plan, manage, and monitor airside operations to ensure high performance standards, safety compliance, and seamless service delivery in line with company policies and customer expectations. This role ensures adherence to industry safety standards and recommended practices while complying with all regulatory requirements. The position aims to achieve service level agreements with partner airlines while fostering a positive work environment and maintaining robust industrial relations making us the supplier of choice for our existing and new business.




Key Result Responsibilities
  • Oversee all airside operations to meet performance standards, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate the recruitment of operational personnel for airside operations in collaboration with HR and the Airport Manager.
  • Implement and monitor effective resource planning to ensure adequate resource availability for operational functions including aircraft turnaround, baggage services, equipment operation, equipment maintenance and cabin cleaning, as required by customer airline’s handling agreement.
  • Responsible for the ramp supervision and aircraft turn around coordination in the shift.
  • Monitor the company safety targets and Safety Performance Indicators and take necessary actions in case of any significant trend. Develop and implement mitigation strategies for potential safety and security risks in line with the company SMS Manual.
  • Promote safety reporting among all operational staff;
  • Ensure that the relevant, Health & Safety and company policy requirements are fully complied with.
  • Conduct regular performance audits and use insights for process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and airport authority policies, including safety, health, and security protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to maintain a safe and secure work environment.


Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
  • Arrange and ensure training compliance for all operations personnel as per defined requirements. Evaluate training effectiveness, identify gaps against industry standards and customer airline requirements, and liaise with the corporate training department for necessary updates.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of operations and ensure timely reporting.
  • Ensures that all Manuals, SOPs and work instructions are kept up to date and disseminated to all concerned.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and development programs to enhance team competency and performance.
  • Handle disciplinary matters in coordination with the HR department, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with airline customers, airport authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication with internal departments and external representatives.
  • Address customer concerns promptly to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
  • Manage departmental budgets and financial controls to optimize costs and maximize commercial opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure optimal equipment availability and utilization.
  • Continuously assess operational procedures for improvements.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports and performance data to senior management.
  • Lead business projects to drive operational excellence and innovation.
  • Act as a point of contact for emergencies or critical situations in airside operations.
  • Deputize for the Airport manager when required.


Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage operations under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in report writing and presentation creation.
  • Knowledge of safety, security, and health policies in aviation.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid country driving licence is desirable.


Work Experience
  • 4 years of experience in Airside operations with an airline or ground handling provider.
  • A broad general understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of Ground handling operations, with an overall idea of how other departments interact with Ground handling services.  Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
