The City School was established in Karachi, Pakistan in 1978. Since then, it has grown to become a national and international schools' organization of 152 branches in 43 cities with thousands of students and numerous teaching and non-teaching staff. While its Head Office is in Lahore, its Regional Offices support a network of branches throughout Pakistan and overseas situated in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Hyderabad and Dubai, Jeddah, and Dhakka.

The City School has a well-established overseas School Development Program. Its first venture abroad was initiated in Dhakka, Bangladesh on the occasion of the City School's Silver Jubilee in 2002. At present, the City School has campuses in Dhaka, Dubai, and Jeddah. With the commencement of its overseas operation, the City School became the first premier international educational institution in Pakistan.. Its future plans include the establishment of schools in the Arab States, South East Asia and Africa.

The City School provides more than 120 courses each year across the age ranges and revises them in accordance with the cumulative experience of its teachers and pupils. Teachers are selected based on their experience as curriculum developers and syllabus writers.
