KHCC Profile
The King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC), formerly named Al-Amal Centre, was founded in 1997, and is the only specialized cancer centre in the Middle East that treats both adults and paediatric patients. In response to His Majesty’s King Abdullah II instructions, Al-Amal Centre’s name was changed, in November 2002, to become King Hussein Cancer Centre in honour of the late King Hussein, who himself fought the disease. The centre is a non governmental, not-for-profit organization, which relies on public funding and donations.
KHCC signed a cooperative agreement with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the USA, in September 2002. This agreement enabled the centre to enhance the medical sciences and improve patient care delivery and quality.
Our mission at KHCC is to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care to the citizens of Jordan and the region. We are also dedicated to providing access to education, training, public awareness and research in order to decrease morality and alleviate suffering from cancer with the highest ethical standards and quality of care.
