Looking for a Job in Jordan? Here Is Where to Search

Are you searching for a job in Jordan? If you are, you might be in a good year. Nearly two thirds (63%) of employers in Jordan are planning to hire in the year ahead. This is what the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey revealed. Many employers in Jordan, and across the Middle East, are going to have many vacancies to fill. Getting a job in Jordan may be just around the corner.

Here is what you need to know to land a job in Jordan:

1. Now or later?

Within the next three months, more than half (53%) of Jordanian employers are “definitely” or “probably” going to hire. But even more jobs will be available in the long run. Looking at future hiring expectations, 63% of employers in Jordan claim that they intend to hire in a year’s time.

2. What positions are hiring?

Among Jordanian companies that plan to hire within the next three months, nearly half (45%) are going to hire for “Junior Executive” roles, followed by 34% who intend to hire a “Coordinator,” and 27% who intend to hire a “Senior Executive.” Most respondents in Jordan also said they are looking to hire “Project Managers” (22%), while 18% said they want to hire “Sales Executives.”

3. What sectors are hiring?

Private sector companies have the highest intention to hire in the next three months, with 54% of large local companies, 52% of multinational companies and 51% of other private sector companies ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ hiring. Private-sector companies continue to have the highest hiring intentions in a year’s time, with 69% of large local companies, 69% of other private sector companies, and 68% of multinational companies saying that they will be ‘definitely hiring’ or ‘probably hiring.’

4. What industries are hiring?

When looking at which industries are hiring in the MENA region over the next three months, more than two thirds (67%) of organizations in the Hospitality/ Recreation/ Entertainment industry and Human Resources industry are planning to hire, making them the industries with the highest hiring potential. This is followed closely by organizations in Business Consultancy/ Business Management industries (57%).

From those surveyed, 74% of respondents in Jordan claim that their company hired new employees in the past 12 months.

5. What education do you need?

In terms of academic qualification, a large number of employers in Jordan are looking for “Business Management” Graduates or Post Graduates (35%), followed by “Engineering” and “Commerce” Graduates and Post Graduates (both at 25%).

6. What skills do you need?

When it comes to skills in high demand, more than three quarters (82%) of employers in Jordan are looking for employees with “good communication skills in both English and Arabic”, and over half (58%) are looking for “team players / cooperative / helpful / flexible” candidates. 57% of employers in Jordan want employees with “ability to work under pressure.”

7. What experience do you need?

In terms of experience, 36% of Jordanian employers are looking for candidates with “managerial experience”, 31% are looking for “sales and marketing experience”, and another 28% are looking for candidates with “administrative experience.”

8. Now What?

The hiring forecast in Jordan is looking promising, with 63% of Jordanian employers planning to hire in a year’s time. It is also worth mentioning that 33% of those planning to hire predict having at least five vacancies to fill in the next three months.
