Best Cities to Work in the Middle East

As our Bayt.com community already knows, every month for many years now we have conducted a regional MENA HR survey and the results of these surveys have been made available for FREE to all our HR practitioners, Employers and Professionals/Jobseekers.

This month we released the much anticipated Best Cities to Work in the Middle East and North Africa study and the results have been eye-opening to say the least. How did we rank these cities? We looked at the following factors:-

  1. Economic factors (which included Availability of Jobs, Competitive Salaries, Benefits for working parents, Availability of affordable housing and Reasonably priced day to day amenities
  2. Labour Rights (which included End of Service Benefits, Termination Rights, Vacation Allowances, Parenthood Allowances and Wage protection System)
  3. Environmental Factors (which included Clean Streets/ Roads, Comfortable Weather, Clean air (Little pollution) and Clean Water)
  4. Everyday Life Factors (which included Availability of parks/ community gardens, Availability of health care facilities, Quality of available health care facilities, Water/ Electricity/ Sewage systems, Accessible public transportation system, Quality of accessible public transportation system, Availability of wide range of entertainment avenues, Availability of schools, Quality of available schools, Availability of colleges/universities, Quality of colleges/universities)
  5. Socio-cultural Factors (which include Equal treatment of both genders, Fair treatment to all nationalities, Stable political environment, Low crime rates, Effective law enforcement and Freedom of expression)
