Bayt.com Poll: New Year’s Resolutions in the Middle East and North Africa 2020

Career-related New Year's resolutions are fairly common among professionals. Have professionals in the MENA region made resolutions for 2020? How confident are they about the New Year? What are their top career-related resolutions? What are the expectations they have of MENA employers? Have those who made New Year’s resolutions in 2019 achieved them all?

Employees in the MENA region have made resolutions that would further their careers. Let’s see what they feel about the year 2020 and what they’re aspiring to accomplish on a personal and professional level.

Key findings:

  • 85% of MENA professionals feel confident about 2020.
  • 65% of those who made New Year’s resolutions in 2019 said they have achieved all or most of them.
  • 50% of the respondents expect more training and learning resources from employers.
  • 85% of the respondents think that year-end appraisals at work are helpful.
  • On a personal level, a common resolution for 2020 among poll respondents is to save money (45%).

Data for the ‘New Year’s Resolutions in the Middle East and North Africa 2020’ poll was collected online from 15th December 2019 to 8th February 2020. Results are based on a sample of 4,732 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
