Main Activities/Responsibilities:

1. As part of a teaching team and under the guidance and supervision of senior colleagues, assist in the delivery of a lab-based content range of teaching programmes at undergraduate level.

2. Design and deliver a range of teaching laboratories at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including contribution to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports a research-informed approach to student learning.

3. Develop own lab-based teaching materials and methods with assistance and support to ensure that defined learning objectives are met.

4. Organise the timetabling of the laboratory sessions and to ensure that each session is suitably staffed with academics, technical staff, and postgraduate research students.

5. Embed Health and Safety awareness training into laboratory teaching programme

6. Liaise with academic staff to ensure delivery of teaching laboratory exercises consistent with the taught component of undergraduate and postgraduate modules

7. Support the experimental activities carried out within undergraduate and postgraduate final year dissertations

8. Manage and prioritise own workload within agreed objectives to ensure that all activities are completed to deadlines.

9. Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, including setting and marking student assignments under supervision and contributing to the development of examination questions.

10. Input as a team member to Department administrative activities

Qualification Required

BEng honours degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
