About the Position: This is a 0200 Teacher (Mixed Middle) (see Position Requirements), located at Bahrain Middle High School.

Duties



Select, adapts, or modifies teaching methods or materials that experience indicates will be most effective in teaching the assigned grade level(s) and subject matter. Possess a repertoire of strategies to accommodate the differentiated needs of learners. Establish classroom routines consistent with a healthy learning environment. Develop, coordinates, and administers a comprehensive guidance and counseling program designed to aid in the facilitation of the DoDEA educational program and to promote the welfare of the students. Provide information and guidance to individuals and groups of students, teachers, other school staff members, and parents relative to academic, career, behavioral, personal, and social development of students. Advise the principal on issues, attitudes and reactions of students, teachers, and parents related to curriculum, school policies, programs, or procedures.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement. Proof of U.S. Citizenship required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Two year trial or probationary period may be required. Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age. You may be required to sign a transportation agreement. You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDEA location. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience described below.
State or Territory Certification/License. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) accepts state educator professional certificates issued from the state departments of education in the United States and its territories. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements and Information, to include State endorsements (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories), AND official transcripts reflecting 50% of the course work in the content area, must be considered with each position, where applicable.
Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements. A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40 semester hours in general education course work distributed over such fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a minimum of 18 semester hours of professional teacher education course work in such areas as learning process, measurement, philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which applying is required. (Note: Communications Impaired Teachers, School Nurses, School Psychologists, JROTC Instructors, and non-certified Training Instructors are excluded from the minimum academic preparation requirement.)
0210 Teacher (English) - Middle School. A major in English or a minimum of 24 semester hours in English. A maximum of 5 semester hours in speech and/or journalism may be credited toward meeting this requirement. Course work must include English literature, American literature, the teaching of composition (writing process), and at least 9 upper level semester hours in English.

0240 Teacher (Mathematics) - Middle School.* A minimum of 24 semester hours in mathematics. Course work must include a minimum of 9 semester hours of upper level course work in mathematics. Only math credits earned from a Mathematics Department are acceptable.

- the work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution.
Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 SH of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college.
