Bank ABC seeks to recruit an Assistant Risk Manager in Bank ABC Islamic based in our Head Office, in Bahrain. The Assistant Risk Manager will be responsible to assist the Head of Risk & Credit Support to perform the role of the second line of defense through the governance, oversight,development and management of:
A strong, independent but commercially aware Risk Management function covering all classes of risk affecting the bank including, credit risk, market risk, operational risk, regulatory risk, conduct risk and reputational risk.
Preserving high standards of risk assessment and appraisal, and manage controlled development of the Subsidiary’s risk portfolio in line with the Risk Appetite Statement set by the Board and ABC Group policies.
Maintaining a proactive and professional approach to risk management and developing an enterprise-wide risk management culture across of the bank to embed risk awareness, the three lines of defense model and procedural integrity.
Responsibilities of the role: Reporting to the Head of Risk and Credit Support, the job holder will: Act as effective assistant to ABCIs Risk Head, with specific focus on the following:
Coordinate the activities of Group risk disciplines, in particular:
Integrated Stress Testing
ICAAP and other regulatory aspects
Implementation of ORM, FRM, BCM and Data Protection frameworks
Defining the Risk Appetite in line with the strategy for ABC Islamic and in line with GRAS
Act as an ORM Champion and coordinate with Group Risk on the above activities
Timely and accurate risk reporting to management, BRC and CBB,
Act as secretary to the Risk meeting of the Bank,
Work proactively on resolving risk related audit issues and issues raised by GAQR and be the key contact point from ABCIs Risk
Additionally, following will be expected (in varying degree) as part of the day-to-day duties:
Ensure implementation of regular monitoring of compliance with covenants, approval conditions and credit administration matters
Provide support to Risk Head to ensure Bank’s governance, policies, procedures are aligned with Group and regulatory guidance
Contribute to building credit awareness & three lines of defense risk culture
Areas of Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
More than 5 years in banking, majority of which in risk areas
A university degree in Business Administration/Finance
A professional qualification in Risk is advantageous
