Registered Nurse

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

• Utilize the nursing process to inform patient care and establish desired outcomes.
• Deliver patient care and interventions that meet clinical standards in accordance with Aspetar policy, procedures and code of conduct.
• Demonstrate good command of interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with patients and families as well as with members of the multidisciplinary team. 
• Demonstrate knowledge of orthopaedic nursing care. 
• Manage the medication and vaccine administration process within the confines of best practice provision. 
• Demonstrate competence in using healthcare information technology (EMR, Automated Dispensing machines…etc) to support the safe provision of patient care.
• Demonstrate competence in safely operating essential medical equipment (ECG, Vital signs monitors, infusion and syringe pumps…etc) 
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence based care plans and pathways. 
• Provide patients with education on health maintenance and disease prevention and safe self care.
• Support the Sports medicine physicians with their assessment.
• Support the sport cardiologists with their assessment and various tests such as Stress ECG.
• Assist in medical procedures as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care interventions.
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols and safety standards.
• Advocate for patient engagement throughout the care process.
• Support patients and their families emotionally and psychologically.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing evidence based tools and frameworks. 
• Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff.
• Manage the allocated workload on a day to day basis to ensure effective and efficient clinical care delivery.
• Keep abreast of advancements in the scope-relevant nursing practice and technology.
• Adhere to ethical and professional standards of nursing practice.
• Participate in the coordination of  educational activities to meet emerging clinical and operational needs. 
• Maintain annual mandatory competencies relevant to the position.
• Undertake self-development to promote and maintain knowledge and competence.
• Deliver care to patients and families that is culturally appropriate.

• Comply with the approved relevant departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures in order to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a high quality and cost-effective service 
• Contribute in cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense
• Ensure compliance to all relevant QHSSE management procedures and controls across the department so that AZF provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people
• Motivate team members and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programmes and projects that reflect international best practice and changes in the competitive environment

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

Minimum two years in orthopeadic and emergency experience. 

Education and Certification requirements:

• Graduated with a bachelor’s degree of a recognized School of Nursing.

Job specific technical Skills:

• BLS prepared to undertake ALS/ACLS training.
• IT and Microsoft excel skills.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
